The COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve and represents a global health concern that FENS regards seriously. We will continue to monitor the situation and closely following recommendations for appropriate action, as they become available from national and international health advisory bodies. These include the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). This is a time that requires collective wisdom rather than division.
Locally, many students were disappointed insofar that they have competed in the annual Brain Bee. Throughout the year different teams have been coached and prepared to demonstrate their knowledge of the brain and nervous system. Dr. Hooks participates in Brain Awareness Week (BAW) through scheduled talks to students in primary, middle, and secondary school settings. The next BAW will be scheduled during the week of 14 through 20 March 2021. The countdown clock is ticking. Still time, guidance from scientific evidence, and data trends will determine whether we engage in a virtual Brain Bee in 2021 and in the years to come.
